What this bill does:

Calls on the Federal government to resolve our national healthcare crisis or, failing that, to enable states like Washington to get it done. 

Why it’s important:

Enhances the ability of our Universal Health Care Commission to design and fund the universal health care system envisioned and mandated by our State Legislature under SB 5399 (2021).


SB 5241 - Concerning material changes to the operations and governance structure of participants in the healthcare marketplace.

What this bill does:

  • Strengthens reporting requirements for mergers and acquisitions between insurance companies, hospitals and other investors and requires public notice and input into proposed mergers.  

Why it’s Important:

  • Puts guardrails around the rapid and alarming rate of consolidation of health care facilities. 

HB 1508 - Improving consumer affordability through the health care cost transparency board.

What this bill does:

  • Caps the price of a 30-day supply of asthma inhalers & a two-pack of epinephrine autoinjectors at $35.

Why it’s Important:

  • It’s a life-saving drug needed on a regular basis, whether enrolled in an insurance plan or not and affected persons may run out of their supply sooner than expected.
